Xmas Books - general recession - old blanketting books

Wasn't sure about the earliness of the Xmas books at first but I've seen some big orders. No big problems from OOS or NOA yet but it's early days yet, the Xmas buying might not really kick in for another month or two then the OOS situation may kick in as usual. But on the whole it is very quiet out there with the amount of orders not changing but the size of them generally on the low side. The weather must help here - people are still buying from the Outdoor book as they are still in the garden and not wrapped up inside from the weather.

It would have been nice if the Xmas book had a two for one wrapping paper offer or somesuch on the front, rather than the expensive colour candle thing, still it has to be better than the overpriced tiny reindeer thing from last year. The throw thing on the back has sold a few even if the picture of the kids gives me the creeps!

One thing that caught my eye only a week or so ago is the main books have Summer/Autumn 2009 on the front - not good for blanketting in February then - I feel a sticker is needed there! I still use *Tiger* books - to a fantastic effect, never got a NOA , I just got lucky - most of the time they want stuff from the Xmas book. On the subject of old books I'm now really short of old books , I bought the last big load of tigers from an ex distributor. Unless I can lay my hands on some I may just need to buy a load of new mains in the new year (when are they due?) and relegate all the others to blanketting.
